Mr. Lauzon was appointed President and CEO of C&D Technologies, effective February 24, 2015. Armand Lauzon is an accomplished CEO and Board member with a proven track record of consistently achieving significant returns for shareholders by quickly assessing and stabilizing turnarounds, balancing leadership focus on both commercial and operations to drive results, integrating multiple acquisitions, and building strong relationships with investors, lenders and customers.

For the past 13 years he served as CEO and Board Member for three portfolio companies of the Carlyle Group, one of the largest and most successful PE firms with $200+ billion in assets. His most recent role was CEO of Sequa Corporation, a current portfolio company of Carlyle, that was taken private in 2007 with three operating units: Chromalloy (leading supplier of technologically advanced repairs for the aerospace industry), Precoat Metals (largest independent metal coil coater in North America), and Sequa Automotive Group (manufacturer of inflators and sensors, sold in late 2012). He assumed a board seat at Sequa in 2007, became the acting COO in July 2008, and then CEO in December 2008 of this global $2+ billion group of companies with operations in 15+ countries.

Prior to Sequa, Armand was Executive Chairman and CEO and currently sits on the board of JM Steel Group, the largest independent steel tubular manufacturer in North America. J.M. Steel was formed in 2005 and 2006 through a series of private to private transactions that included the John Maneely Company, Atlas Tube, and Sharon Tube. He assumed a board seat in 2005 and transitioned into the CEO position five months post-acquisition for this $2+ billion company with 11 plants in 5 US states and Canada. From time of purchase to exit, the company increased sales by 3x and EBITDA by 4x, and reduced working capital by 50%.

Armand’s first role with Carlyle was at Firth Rixon, which was taken private and merged with Forged Metal in 2002, and then merged in 2004 with Schlosser Forge to manufacture seamless and welded rings, die forgings, extrusions, and metal ingot. He was recruited to be the CEO upon Carlyle’s acquisition of this $400 million business with 8 facilities in 3 countries, and 800 employees.

Armand joined The Carlyle Group from Precision Castparts Corporation, a world leader in structural investment castings, forged components and airfoil castings for aircraft engines. At Precision Castparts he led both investment casting and forging related businesses including serving as President, Wyman Gordon, a $500 million subsidiary of PCC that manufactures forged metal components for gas turbine, aircraft and medical industries. He had full P&L responsibility for 10 manufacturing plants, plus sales, marketing, materials, finance and human resources, with 2,500 employees worldwide.

Earlier in his career, Armand held a variety of operations leadership roles with General Electric (Aircraft Engine Division), Textron Lycoming and Fairview Machine Company, a specialized manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the medical and aerospace industries.

He is a current Board Member of J.M. Steel Group, KleerMail, Inc., and CureMeta. He is also Executive Chairman of the Fairview Machine Company, and Board Chairman of the Commonwealth Center of Advanced Manufacturing. Previously he served as a Board Member of Sequa Corporation and Firth Rixson. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and an MBA.

Chief Technology Officer

Mr. Anderson has been with C&D Technologies since December 2006. He is responsible for all Research and Development at C&D and the overall technical direction of the Company, including Product Management, New and Emerging Technologies and Global Product Development. Prior to working for C&D, Mr. Anderson worked for Exide Technologies Industrial Battery divisions holding various technical positions in North America and Europe. Prior to working for Exide Technologies Mr. Anderson worked for GNB in the Research and Development Division for Transportation, Traction and Stationary Power applications.

Vipul K. Chokshi

Vice President of Information Technology

Mr. Vipul K. Chokshi was appointed Vice President of Information Technology in March, 2015. In this role, he oversees the architecture and implementation of all operational and business support systems that the organization uses to operate and manage business as well as design and development of Information applications that help keep C&D in a leadership position. Prior to joining C&D in 2011, Mr. Chokshi was Director of Information Systems for Penn Power Group, a PE backed On and Off Highway equipment, transport refrigeration and power generation company. From 2001 to 2005, Mr. Chokshi was in Management Consulting with Accenture where he held various positions including SME for Chemicals and Natural Resources vertical. Mr. Chokshi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in MIS from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from The Drexel University.

Donna M. Costello

Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Costello joined the company as Chief Financial Officer in April 2016. Previously she served as Chief Financial Officer of Sequa Corporation, a $1.5 billion global manufacturer and service provider in the Industrial and Aerospace markets, from 2008 to 2015. Prior to being promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 2008, Ms. Costello served as Vice President and Controller of Sequa Corporation, which was a publicly traded company until its acquisition by The Carlyle Group in 2007. In this role, she was also the chief accounting officer of the company and responsible for all SEC reporting and communication. From 2002 to 2005, Ms. Costello served as Vice President and Controller of Chromalloy Gas Turbine, Sequa’s largest subsidiary, responsible for accounting and financial reporting of over thirty operating unit controllers. Ms. Costello began her career in 1995 as an auditor for Arthur Andersen and advanced through a series of assignments to become a senior audit manager in 1999.

A summa cum laude graduate of Iona College (BBA, 1995), she received an MBA in finance, also from Iona, in 1999. She is a certified public accountant and a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants. Ms. Costello is also a member of the Henry Crown Fellowship Program of the Aspen Institute.

Vice President of Human Resources

James R. Guillow joined C&D Technologies as the Vice President of Human Resources in June 2015. James joins us with an extensive background in human resources. James has held key human resources leadership positions with a number of companies. His experience includes roles as Vice President of Human Resources for JM Steel Group, Vice President of Human Resources for Alcan Rolled Products, and Vice President of Human Resources for Phillips Plastics Corporation. James has held various key human resources positions for Chromalloy, Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation and Navistar International Corporation. James holds an MBA from the University of Saint Francis, a BS in Business Administration from Indiana University, and has completed executive education programs at the University of Michigan and the Center for Creative Leadership. He has his Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification for the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM).

Chun Lauener

General Manager, C&D International

Chun C. Lauener joined C&D Asia in 2009 and was appointed General Manager of C&D International in March 2011.  Chun has worked in the Data Center market in Asia since 1986 where she started to work in UPS activity with the French company, Merlin-Gerin.  She then held different positions within the Schneider Electric Group rising to the position of Greater China Senior Vice President for the APC organization in 2008.

Robert F. Malley

Vice President Quality and Process Engineering

Robert Malley joined C&D in 1999 as Director Process Engineering. In 2002 Bob took on the role of Director Product Development with responsibility for the design and development of flooded and large VRLA products. In 2007, this role was expanded to include 12V VRLA products. Prior to joining C&D, Bob was the Quality Manager for Power Battery Company, responsible for quality, product design, and process development. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College.
